Pacific Room on Alki hopes to bring "Beach Bougie" dining to West Seattle

Management promises a next level experience at a reasonable price

The management and staff at the new Pacific Room on Alki have taken many roads to end up at West Seattle's newest restaurant. General Manager Kurt Niemeyer has a degree in Environmental Science and Marine Ecology, worked for NOAA as an At Sea Biologist, has been a commercial diver and a boat captain. "In between I worked in restaurants and managed restaurants and then this opportunity came along and I had the experience and background to implement it since I've also done construction work and I was the general contractor for the build out." He and Manager Derek Delos Santos did a lot of the work from sanding and staining the ceiling beams to carpentry and painting.

Murder suspect arrested in SeaTac homicide

Update: Today, June 10, 2019 the 36 year old suspect was arrested in Renton thanks to the excellent work by King County Major Crimes Detectives. The suspect will be transported to KCJ and booked on investigation of Murder.

Story- On June 8, 2019 at 10:20 PM two males were arguing in the parking lot of Safeway, 4000 BLK S 164, SeaTac. The suspect shot the 36 year old victim once in the chest. The suspect fled in a vehicle. Several witnesses were on scene and began CPR on the victim along with Deputies. King County Medic 1 arrived and were unable to save the victim who died at the scene.

King County Major Crimes Detectives responded to the scene to investigate.

Duwamish River Opportunity Fund to provide $250,000 for community-initiated projects

For years Duwamish River neighborhoods have been impacted by environmental injustices, including the Superfund clean-up occurring in and along the river. To support them, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods is again seeking proposals to the Duwamish River Opportunity Fund (DROF) to help fund community-based projects that increase the sustainability of these neighborhoods. The total amount of funding is $250,000.

Annual Night Out coming up again Aug. 6; Block parties help prevent crime and unite, inform and help neighbors

Night Out is a national event promoted in Seattle by Seattle Police Department Crime Prevention. It is designed to heighten crime prevention awareness, increase neighborhood support in anti-crime efforts, and unite our communities.

Many neighborhoods are also block watch participants and help disseminate disaster preparedness materials and speak to neighbors about looking out for one another in event of an earthquake, extended power outage, or major storm.

Anyone can host or participate in Night Out.
