Kennedy Catholic remains unscathed following Saturday's win over the Tigers of Tacoma.

The Lancers improved to 5-0 in North Puget Sound League Class 4A division play while running their overall mark to 7-0.

They host Kentridge for a 1 p.m. Saturday game at Highline Memorial.

Foster flattened another opponent Friday.

Next up for the Bulldogs of Tukwila is a 7 p.m. visit to Interlake this Friday.

Join Seattle Parks and Recreation at community engagement event for new Off-Leash areas 

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) is excited to announce the development of new off-leash areas (OLAs) at West Seattle Stadium and Othello Playground. Please join us for one of the community engagement events either on October 24 to learn more about the development of new off-leash areas. The event will take place at Othello Playground, 4351 S Othello St, in the southwest corner of the park on October 24 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. 

SPR’s project team and design consultant will be available to answer any questions and to gather valuable community feedback. The feedback collected will help shape the final design of these new OLAs.

Seattle unveils ambitious growth plan to accommodate one million residents

The City of Seattle is preparing for significant growth over the next two decades, aiming to accommodate an anticipated one million residents and tens of thousands of new jobs. To manage this expansion sustainably, Mayor Bruce Harrell has introduced the One Seattle Plan, a comprehensive update to the city's growth strategy. The plan centers around accommodating this influx while ensuring current residents' needs are met and the city remains livable. New zoning updates were released this month.

A key component of this plan involves public engagement, and residents are invited to attend an information session at Madison Middle School on Wednesday, November 6th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

A new women’s USL W League Soccer Team is coming to West Seattle in 2025 – West Seattle Rhodies FC. This expansion into the United Soccer League (USL) will help establish a strong presence of women’s soccer in the Pacific Northwest. Based in the vibrant West Seattle community, the club will make its debut in the USL W League in the spring of 2025. 

“We are beyond excited to embark on this new journey with the USL W League and bring West Seattle Rhodies FC to life. This is a remarkable opportunity to elevate the talent and passion of our community on a national platform, while creating pathways for women to thrive in soccer,” said CEO & Co-Owner Jessica Pierce.

Dick Rehm has passed at the age of 102

Dick Rehm lived quite a life all the way to age 102. He was well known in West Seattle and always credited his longevity to his wife Nell. His life long love of trains began at an early age since got his first one at age 7.

Westside Seattle did a profile on him on his birthday in August of last year.

His official obituary follows:

Seattle native and long-time resident, Richardson "Dick" Rehm passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2024.

He was born in Seattle on August 4, 1922, then moved frequently around the country with his family when he was young. He also traveled extensively while in the Navy.

When it was time to settle down wih his bride, Nell 1949, he built a home in West Seattle and raised his family there.

Update from the Skylark Cafe; The Light Rail's a Comin'!

After the release of the Final Environmental Impact Statement by Sound Transit for the West Seattle Link Extension of the light rail system, the recommendation was made by the design committee to pass along their vote to the larger board for a vote on Oct. 24. That will mean the project is moving forward. Those businesses likely to be affected first will be those in North Delridge.

Among them is the Skylark Cafe which shared an update on their status via email with their fans and supporters.
