Military and service professionals get free zoo admission this weekend for Heroes Weekend
Thu, 09/08/2011
In remembrance of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 and in honor of those who put themselves at risk in service to their community and country, Woodland Park Zoo extends free admission to all active and retired U.S. military, police, firefighters and emergency medical services personnel with valid service identification on Heroes Weekend, Sept. 10 – 11, 2011.
Woodland Park Zoo also recognizes the families and friends of our local heroes with a special offer: up to six guests accompanying heroes with valid ID will receive half off regularly-priced zoo admission during the Heroes Weekend event. Note: Heroes Weekend discounts cannot be combined with other offers or zoo discounts.
Following Heroes Weekend, Woodland Park Zoo will launch an ongoing military discount at the zoo gates that will continue year round. Beginning Sept. 12, active and retired U.S. military and their families will receive $5 off each zoo admission purchased at any zoo gate (must show valid military ID). The zoo previously made discounted tickets available for purchase to military personnel through military bases in Washington state. This new program marks the first time that military discounts can be redeemed directly at zoo gates, making a visit to the zoo more affordable, accessible and convenient for military families in our community.
Heroes Weekend discounts are available Sept. 10 – Sept. 11, 2011, during regular zoo hours, 9:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. The ongoing military discount extended to military personnel and military families launches Sept. 12, 2011 and will continue year round.
