Update: Wednesday's second pre-design community meeting for new Sunset Hill development has been cancelled due to weather.

Developer wants public input for redevelopment of popular Sunset Hill corner
Developer Bill Parks is inviting the public to a presentation regarding his vision for the redevelopment of the corner building on 32nd Ave & NW 64th St in Sunset Hill.
The building, home to Sunset Hill Green Market, an artist studio and holistic practitioner, was bought by Parks in 2007 but Parks waited to develop until the market stabilized.
Now it appears that Parks is moving forward with his project.
Previously, Parks favored a new mixed-use development instead of retrofitting the current building. At design meetings at the time, locals expressed concern about whether the Sunset Green Market could continue is its current location, and raised questions about parking and traffic issues.
Parks, a long-time Seattlite, is well regarded in the communities where he had previously built and has a history of working with an innovative and award-winning architectural firm.
His proposed project features a mixed-use retail/office/residential building of three or four stories, with parking, environmental amenities, possible artist housing, and a green market.
He has set two dates for public meetings to gather community comments, understand neighbors' concerns, and look at opportunities going forward.
"All in all this proposed development could mean a lot of change to those currently living, working, shopping in the neighborhood," said Peggy Sturdivant, a Sunset Hill resident. "Many developers would not seek public input like this so it is a very positive gesture on the part of Mr. Parks and his partner(s)."
Potential joint use of the nearby Seattle City Light substation will also be discussed at the meetings.
The meetings will take place January 11 and 18, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Sunset Hill Community Club, 3002 NW 66th.
