Early Sunday morning, a man was sent to Swedish Hospital/Ballard suffering a minor injury from an explosion, according to the Seattle Police Department Blotter.
The injured man told police he was walking with a friend outside the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks near NW 54 St and 32 Ave NW when he heard the explosion. A device affixed to a city parking meter had detonated. The detective said it appeared to be "vandalism gone awry."
The man said something struck him in the arm and that it was bleeding. The injuries are not life threatening.
The investigation is active and open and no further information is available at the moment.
