A medical marijuana dispensary in Ballard was burglarized this week. A man was walking by on April 29 when he noticed that the gate was forced open and the front door was smashed. Police investigated the building and did not locate any suspects but did locate a large rock that had been used to smash the glass door. The dispensary had been ransacked, but it was unclear whether any marijuana products had been taken. It was clear that the burglar had tried to take the flat screen TV and Xbox. The alarm system hadn’t been activated.
Police determined the owners’ address and spoke with them. One owner responded to the scene and said that the only item that appeared to have been stolen was the video security monitor. He said that he had left the alarm off overnight because there had been many false trips recently. The responding officer believed that this may have been due to burglars testing the premises.

A fight at a bus stop in downtown Ballard had either two victims—or two suspects. The responding officers arrived at the scene to find that one suspect had already left. The first suspect said that she and her friends were at the bus stop when the second suspect came up and began yelling at her for no reason, then started hitting her in the face. She also said that the second suspect hit her in the back with a stick. The officers spoke to the first suspect’s friends, who all said that they hadn’t seen anything and didn’t want to be involved. The first suspect had a small cut over one eye but refused medical aid.
Officers did an area check for the second suspect and found her in a skate park at 22nd Ave NW and NW 58th St. She said that she was just passing through and the first suspect got mad at her. She said that the first suspect was dating someone she used to date, and she kept saying to stay away from her man. The second suspect said that the first suspect came after her and began assaulting her, so she fought back.
Both women said that they considered themselves the victim in the incident. Both were also highly intoxicated.
9-11:30 p.m., April 26th. 75th block of 19th Ave NW
There were two burglaries on the same block on the night of April 26. In the first incident, the victim said that she was sleeping in her bedroom at around 9:00 p.m. when she was woken up by someone trying to enter through her bedroom window. The victim yelled, and the suspect ran away. The woman looked around the residence and found a chair below the window. She did not get a good look at the suspect.
In the second incident, the victim returned home at around 11:30 p.m. after running an errand and found his back doors damaged and left open. He believed a laptop may have been stolen but wasn’t sure. The burglar had also gone upstairs and rummaged through jewelry and medications.
10 p.m., April 26. 77th block of Dibble Ave NW
A woman was woken in the night by an unsuccessful would-be burglar. The victim said that she was woken up by a small light shining through her bedroom window. She didn’t think anything of it and went back to sleep. She later woke up to a gust of cold air and found her window, which is 9 feet above the ground, wide open and the outside screen removed. The victim called a neighbor, who checked her backyard and determined that there was no one there.
10:10 a.m., April 26. 1st block of NW 78th St
A neighbor called police after apparently seeing a man taking items out of an open window in the house next door. Police arrived and checked the house but found no one inside. It appeared that nothing had been taken and that the burglar had not entered the house. There was a large pit bull in one bedroom. The neighbor described the suspect as a white male in his 20s wearing a dark jacket and a black hat with the letters DG on it. The neighbor had also questioned the suspect after first seeing him, and the suspect had replied that he was trying to get the attention of someone inside the house.
