A subletter's bad luck

Aug. 20, 8 p.m., 8700 Block of 2nd Ave NW -- A subletter came home at night to find the sliding window over the sink standing open and the backdoor off the deck unlocked. Cash and an electronic storage device was stolen from the victim's bedroom.

An RV burglary

Aug. 18, 4:30 p.m., 8900 Block of 1st Ave NW -- The owner of an RV had her Dell laptop and DeWalt drill stolen from inside. The victim said the door was locked and there were no signs of forced entry, but she said she had left several windows open. She suspected an acquaintance of hers who had been hanging around the area, but he denied it. He did not have a key. There were no witnesses to the burglary.

Trek mountain bike stolen

Aug. 17, 2:03 p.m., 1100 Block of NW 59th St -- Sometime in the early morning, an unknown suspect entered an apartment's secure garage and stole a woman's new Trek mountain bike. She had no suspect information.

Woman choked, threatened, dumped on random road

Aug. 17, 2:19 a.m., 11700 Block of Fremont Ave NW -- A woman was heard screaming for help and when officers found her, she was walking in the street and crying.

At first she was hesitant to speak with the officers, fearing that she would be killed if she spoke with them. She then revealed that she was picked up at the 9200 block of Aurora for a date. She said the vehicle was a red pickup truck and the occupants were two Hispanic males in their 40s. After driving around for a while, the suspect in the back seat began choking her from behind with his forearm around her throat. They dumped her off at the 11700 block of Fremont Ave N and said they would kill her if she spoke with police. She refused medical aid at the scene but requested AMR to transport her to the hospital. The police officers could see visible red marks on her face and neck.

Burglar makes off with jewelry, Apple products

Aug. 16, 11:42 p.m., 8000 Block of 8th Ave NW -- When a woman left her apartment in the morning, she had made sure everything was locked and secure. But when she came back around 11:15 at night, the door leading to her basement was open and a window on the south side of the house was forced open.

Several boxes, bowls, tins and other containers for jewelry had been flipped over on her dresser. Several drawers were left open. She stated that the whole rest of the house had been searched, though she straightened some things up before police arrived. Most of her jewelry and several electronic items had been taken, including an iPad, iPod, MacBook and more.

The victim was able to pull up photos for some of her jewelry and one glass container on the dresser had been flipped and moved and taken for fingerprint checks.

Bank robber gets away

Aug. 16, 2:46 p.m., 8700 Block of Holman Rd NW -- A robber demanded money from a bank on Holman Rd NW. When police arrived, the bank manager said the suspect had already left. The manager was able to follow the suspect vehicle as it fled eastbound on Holman and Northbound on 6th Ave NW. Officers were able to lift six latent prints.
