Space heater and CD’s taken from basement
Dec. 22 at the 900 block of 74th Street offices responded to a residential burglary. The complainant explained his detached basement had been broken into. The only entryway into the basement was a door secured by a padlock. The suspect cut the lock. Boxes had been rifled through and a space heater and compact discs were taken. No fingerprints were found.
Door saves cannabis at MMJ co-op, suffered gunshots
On Dec. 21 officers arrived on the 1100 block of 85th Street after responding to a 911 call claiming that four gunshots had been fired. The caller had also claimed that he had heard a car “speeding off” and saw three teens running from the scene. Upon inspection, officers found the front glass door of the marijuana co-op had been smashed open. Next to the “employee only” door they saw two shell casings on the ground. The door lock was damaged consistent with bullets being fired at it, and officers located bullet fragments on the ground. Officers were unable to locate any fingerprints but took the casings and fragments for evidence. There were security cameras mounted in the entry way but the owner of the business said they were not operating during the incident.
Neighbor records thieves making off with tools and fishing poles
Dec. 20 officers responded to a burglary report at the 1000 block of Mary Avenue N. The complainant said he had been doing construction on his home and left for 30 minutes. During that time the complainant’s neighbor witnessed three male individuals wearing camouflage clothing enter the complainant’s garage and reemerge with items. One suspect wore a bright orange construction vest. The neighbor recorded the three suspects on his cell phone. The suspects noticed the neighbor and fled in a newer black GMC SUV. The vehicle had dealer plates and a small rack on top. The complainant noticed tools and fishing poles taken. The neighbor was able to send screen shots of the vehicle to SPD.
Stuffed newspaper and gun bluffs
On Dec. 20 at 8 a.m. officers responded to a residential burglary report at the 2400 block of N.W. 57th Street. The complainant told officers that after leaving his apartment for a few hours, upon returning that evening he noticed that the screen to the window had been removed and was leaning against the wall. He lived on the 7th floor so someone had to have gained access from inside the building. Later that morning the complainant saw someone through a one half-inch gap under the door by way of the light in the hallway. He saw the edges of newspaper being shoved through the small gap. When the newspaper did not fit the suspect just left it in front of the complainant’s door. Later the complainant covered the gap with a piece of wood and wrote a note and placed it on the door that read something like “Stop messing with me or I will shoot you.” The complainant said that it was a bluff because he did not own a gun. He said he had contacted the manager of the property and was instructed to file a police report.
Garage door abused, nothing taken
Dec. 20 on the 7300 block of Keen Way N., officers responded to a burglary report at approximately 6:05 p.m. The complainant was there and explained to officers that he had left his home Dec. 18 and had returned a few days later to find the detached garaged had been broken into. He first noticed something was wrong after seeing the yard gate open and gate lock bent. The side door of the garage appeared to have been pried open. However, nothing appeared disturbed in the garage and the suspect could not determine if there was anything taken.
