The City of Seattle is seeking applications from persons interested in serving on the Seattle Freight Advisory Board (SFAB). The volunteer board, which was created by the Seattle City Council in 2010, advises the Mayor, City Council and City departments on the development of a functional and efficient freight system, and on all matters related to freight and the impact that actions by the City may have on the freight environment. In addition, the board is playing an important role in the development of Seattle’s Freight Master Plan.

Board terms are two years, with an opportunity to serve a second two-year term. Members should represent a business or organization that has a significant presence in Seattle, and may not be city employees. The board meets the third Tuesday of each month from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Seattle City Hall.

Mayor Murray and the City Council are committed to promoting diversity in the City's boards and commissions. Women, young persons, seniors, persons with disabilities, sexual minorities, and persons of color are encouraged to apply.

SDOT is seeking members who represent:
· Different means of transporting goods and services by truck, rail and marine modes
· Different geographic areas of the city: citywide, and the Duwamish and Ballard Interbay Northend Manufacturing and Industrial Centers
· Businesses and organizations that depend on the efficient movement of freight
