Burglar risks it all for IRS tax documents
A Ballard couple living at the 7500 block of 32nd Avenue N.W. didn’t hear a sound as a burglary broke into their home on Jan. 2. The two were sleeping upstairs when an individual pried off a basement window. The suspect ransacked the basement office, second level dining room and office and got away with a television, laptop computer and IRS tax return forms. The complainants said the suspect(s) never went upstairs where they were sleeping. Police did not recover any fingerprints at the scene.
Bad car sale leaves man beaten, robbed
A sale of a car went bad at the intersection of 15th Avenue N.W. and N.W. 80th Street on Jan. 5. The victim told police that he met an individual who wanted to buy his gray 1991 Honda Accord that day. The man arrived alone and purchased the car for $600. Two hours later the man called the victim back and said the car had broken down and that he wanted his money back. The victim met him at the said intersection and told the suspect that he would give him $300 back, but he was keeping the other half to pay for a tow truck. The suspect was with three other black males and one black female. When they heard the victim was keeping the $300 they attacked him and stole his wallet, cell phone and cell phone charger.
The next day the victim returned to the site to pick up the car and it was gone. That’s when he called police. The suspect told police that he and his friend were tracking his cell phone in the Everett area. The victim had bruises on his face, head and arms. He could only give a vague description of the primary suspect and his name. Police estimate the loss to be $7,500.
