The brats, actually people dressed up as giant sausages, took a ride on the wienie wagon to publicize the Burien Brat Trot 5K, a great day of German-style fun and exercise presented by the Tin Room Bar and Theater on Sunday, Oct. 9.
Brat Trot proceeds will go to Safe Kids King County and Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence.
After their thrilling ride, the brats retired to the Tin Room where they were welcomed by proprietor Dan House with some of their favorite beverages and foods.
Burien Carnival Days at Town Square Park lasts through Sunday, Sept. 25.

Registration open for those hot to brat trot
Registration is now open for the Burien Brat Trot 5K, a great day of German-style fun and exercise presented by the Tin Room in Olde Burien on Sunday, Oct. 9.
The 5K race starts at 1p.m. in Olde Burien and widely circles Lake Burien.
The "Seize the Sausage" Family Race (about one mile) starts at Lake Burien Park at 1:40 p.m. Both events finish to cheering crowds right in the heart of Olde Burien where revelers can enjoy a day-long Oktoberfest style festival including brats, beer gardens, live entertainment and plenty of activities for kids.
German-style costumes are encouraged.
Besides being a community celebration, the brat trot is a true community celebration also raises funds for two local non-profits-- Safe Kids King County South and Highline Schools Foundation for Excellence.
Safe Kids supports injury prevention through education and access by providing needy families with essentials such as car seats and cribs. The schools foundation provides community resources to help all Highline Public Schools succeed by supporting classroom innovation, the arts, athletics, college scholarships and many more district programs and needs.

The festival will include swing dancing, face painting, pumpkin painting, balloon sculpting and bouncy toys.
Organizers promise a hot dog eating contest, live music and a giant chicken and egg leading the Chicken Dance.

Burien Carnival Days kicks off fall events
Laugh and scream with delight during Burien Carnival Days, the city's first event this fall, from Thursday, Sept. 22 through Sunday, Sept. 25.
Day passes are available for unlimited rides all day at the Davis Shows' full carnival. Presented by the nonprofit Discover Burien Association, the carnival will thrill and chill in Burien Town Square Park.
The carnival closes each day when attendance gets too thin. Hours are Sept. 22 and Sept. 23 from 3 p.m. to close and Sept. 24 and Sept. 25 from 11 a.m. to close.
Burien Town Square Park is located at Southwest 152nd Street and Fifth Place Southwest in downtown Burien.
