The young woman who died in a Des Moines shooting in the early hours of Nov. 5 has been identified as 19-year-old Jayme Thomas.
The Chase Bank branch on Marine View Dr. S. in Des Moines confirmed that a memorial fund has been set up for Jayme. Anyone interested can bring cash or a check to any Chase branch and let them know you would like to donate to "The Memorial Fund for Jayme Thomas Donation Account."
A memorial service for Jayme Leilani Thomas is scheduled for the following day, time and location according to a Facebook events page:

A 19-year-old woman lost her life in a shooting on the 800 block of Redondo Way S. in Des Moines early Saturday morning, Nov. 5, according to Sgt. Bob Bohl with the Des Moines Police Department. A 24-year-old male was also shot but sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Here is the official information from police:
On November 5, 2011, at 2:40 AM, Des Moines Police responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Redondo Way South. Police located a 24-year-old male victim who had been shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries and a 19-year-old female victim who had been shot with more serious injuries. Both victims were transported to Harborview Medical Center. Later police were informed by Harborview Medical Center the female victim died as a result of her gunshot wounds.
According to the witnesses a verbal confrontation occurred between two separate groups before the shooting occurred. Witnesses stated two males started passing a gun around and then fired shots into the victim’s vehicle.
The two male suspects were described as an Asian Male, early 20’s and a Black Male, early to late 20’s.
Witness also provided police with a description of two separate vehicles the two male suspects fled the scene in prior to the police arriving.
Vehicle 1: 1990-1995, flat black Honda Civic 2 door with black & chrome after market rims and tinted windows.
Vehicle 2: Lowered 1990-1995, primer black Honda Civic 2 door with black spoke rims, large chrome muffler, no front license plate, tinted windows, and had recent body work near the rear driver’s side wheel well.
Detectives are actively investigating and request anybody with information in regards to this incident to please contact the Des Moines Police Department by calling 911.
