BELLINGHAM, Wash. --- Western Washington University men’s soccer coach Travis Connell announced today that defender Uche Ugwoaba, a senior at Highline High School, has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Vikings this fall.
Two more prep seniors, midfielder Conner Pichette from Wilson High School in Tacoma and goalkeeper Andrew Wildfong from Woodinville High School, have accepted formal offers of admission to WWU.
“We are very excited to add these three young men to our roster for next fall,” said Connell. “Bernie James at Crossfire and David Hoggan at Tynecastle have a proven track record of developing productive college soccer players. Andrew, Conner and Uche are talented hard-working players that will be great additions to our squad.”
Ugwoaba and Pichette have played the last two years for Crossfire Premier Academy, which competes in the Western Conference of the U.S. Soccer Development Academy. Ugwoaba is the team captain this season after having seven assists in nine games the previous year.
As juniors, Ugwoaba was a first-team all-Seamount League pick and Pichette was a first-team all-Narrows League selection.
Wildfong played four years of club soccer with Tynecastle FC. He helped that team win a second straight U.S. Club Regional title in 2011, allowing just 10 goals in 16-game regular-season schedule with six shutouts.
