Burien Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services is pleased to present an exhibition by artist Kim Bly at the Burien Community Center. The exhibition will be on display through the beginning of February 2014.
Kim Bly was born and raised in Washington State. She studied at the University of Washington, independent studies at the Art Institute of Chicago, and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Central Washington University, majoring in both photography and painting. Following graduation from Central Washington University, Kim established herself in Seattle where she actively participated in the independent art culture. Relocating to San Diego in 2002, utilizing her photographic arts background, Kim started her own business as a professional wedding, portrait and event photographer.
The transition from Seattle to San Diego brought much creative and professional growth to Kim and is most evident when viewing her entire body of work. Kim's paintings are expressive, bold and most often very layered, conveying a sense of growth within each painting. Much of the lines and shapes within her paintings flow together and grow out of one another, simultaneously showing unity and evolution which bring to mind cause and effect relationships. Kim is passionate about nature and believes that all of life is connected no matter how big or insignificant things may seem.
With her husband, three year old daughter and golden labrador, Kim has recently relocated to Burien and is excited to continue to pursue her art and raise her family in the Northwest. She is looking forward to being based out of Seattle and continuing her professional photography and fine art along the west coast.
The Burien Community Center is open Monday-Thursday 8:30AM-8:00PM and Fridays 8:30AM-5:00PM.
