Cedar Park Christian (Bothell) flew away with the rebounds against the Seattle Christian girls basketball team on Fri., January 31, in a 50-35 Nisqually 1A League verdict over SC in SeaTac.

After the battling Warriors had narrowed a 28-17 deficit to 30-26 with 3:20 remaining in the third quarter behind the big time play of Madelyn Weber, Mariah May and Aly Kaler, the ran afoul of the Eagle rebounding dominance and fast breaks to trail 38-26 going into the third quarter.

Seattle Christian never got close than 10 points the rest of the way while yielding the control of the glass completely to the visitors.

After staying reasonably close in rebounds (19-13) in the first half, the wounded Warriors completely lost the rebound battle in the second half as the energetic Eagles ripped off a total of 41 game rebounds while nearly doubling their advantage on the offensibe boards at 20-11. Seattle Christian's game field goal percentage was just more than 29 percent each half, as well.

Cedar Park Christian went sky high to claim the first eight points of the game, but Taelor Wilhoite's put back drew SCS within 10-8. The Eagles then moved to a 14-8 lead after one quarter.

The Bothell based unit harassed the SeaTac squad into turnovers and shooting that resembled gunfighters shooting blanks to pile up a pair of 11-point margins in the second quarter before Weber's inside game combined with a kick out basket and breakaway basket by Kaler to trim the visitors lead to 21-17.

Cedar Park responded with four consecutive points to close out the half with a 25-17 control that eventually reached 28-17 before the third quarter play that set the final tone of the game in the favor of the Eagles.

Weber stood out for SC to the tune of 15 points on 6-of-14 field goal shooting and 3-of-5 free throw shooting. She also fought hard for seven rebounds. Kaler closed out with nine points.

Laura Goodnight had an outstanding evening for Cedar Park, scoring 17 points while hauling in 11 caroms off the glass. Emily Massad added 14 points for the Eagles.

After the events of this night, Cedar Park Christian stood at 6-6 league and 7-7 overall while Seattle Christian moved to 4-6 and 7-7, respectively.
