Optic yellow shoes ablazing, Adama Kante booted three goals to lift the Tyee boys soccer team to a 3-2 victory over Lindbergh Friday.
"He's stepped up big for us," said Tyee head coach Allen Rider of his senior midfielder, who is joined on the team by his brother, senior forward Hemidou Kante.

Led by Adama Kante's hat trick, the Totems ran their Seamount League record to a stellar 3-0-1 with the win at Highline Memorial Stadium.
Tyee is coming off a playoff season last year, and seems destined for another one in spite of taking heavy losses to graduation.

"We're having our struggles," Rider said. "We lost a lot of guys, but we're just working together and getting out the kinks."

Adama Kante's first score came with 28:30 to play in the first half from up close, and he found the left side of the net from the far right side to make it 2-1 in favor of the Totems with 11:20 to go before intermission.

Kante upped the lead to 3-1 with 31:10 remaining in the second half.
The shot was partially stopped by the Lindbergh goalkeeper, but it continued to roll and went over the goal line even though it didn't reach the actual net.

Kante then took a penalty kick with 11:27 left only to have it bounce off the cross bar.

A goal there would have made things much easier for the Totems, as Lindbergh freshman midfielder James Ferrell drilled the ball into the back of the net to make it 3-2 with 7:40 to go.

But that was where the score remained as the Totems held on for the win.
The Eagles from Renton had tied the game at 1-1 at the 18:12 mark of the first half on a goal by senior forward Rodney Rodriguez.

Tyee visits Kennedy for a key 6 p.m. match at the Starfire complex in Tukwila on Monday before playing Evergreen at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highline Memorial.

Mt. Rainier 0, Kentridge 0

The Rams played the Chargers of Kentridge to a scoreless tie in the first game of a double-header at Highline Memorial played Friday afternoon.

August Petterson came close to scoring for Mount Rainier with 15:30 remaining in the second half, just hitting the right outside of the net.
A penalty kick with 32:30 to go taken by the Rams was blocked over the top of the net, and Kentridge had a free kick miss over the top in the final two minutes of action.

Mount Rainier visits Kentlake at 7:30 p.m. Monday before entertaining Kent-Meridian at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Highline Memorial.
