Little League changes
Thu, 06/26/2014
Change is in the wind for three of the upcoming District 7 All-Star Little League tournaments.
One was rearranged after a team was added and two were dropped, one was switched around after a team was dropped and a third -- the Juniors age 13-14 tournament -- has been cancelled altogether.
Southwest of White Center dropped out of the age 9-10 tournament, leaving seven teams instead of a full field of the eight member charters.
West Seattle gets a first round bye as a result, waiting until 9 a.m. Sunday to play the winner of a 9 a.m. Saturday game between Rainier and Seattle Central.
South Highline American opens against Renton at 12 p.m. Saturday and South Highline National meets host PacWest of Burien at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The winners play each other at 12 p.m. Sunday.
The winner's bracket final awaits Sunday's winners at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the loser's bracket final at 10 a.m. Friday, the championship at 10 a.m. Saturday and the if-necessary game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Seattle Central and Rainier both dropped out of the age 10-11 tournament, but Renton was added to leave a total of four teams.
PacWest plays Renton at 9 a.m. Saturday and West Seattle meets South Highline National at 12 p.m., with the winners playing in the winner's bracket final at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The loser's bracket final is at 6 p.m. Sunday, the championship at 6 p.m. Tuesday and the if-necessary game at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The Majors age 11-12 tournament and the Intermediate age 13 tournament remain the same as previously announced.
PacWest and West Seattle play at 9 a.m. Saturday in the Majors tournament to be played at the Valley Ridge fields near Tyee High School instead of PacWest like the others.
The winner plays Seattle Central at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Renton meets Rainier in the other opener at 12 p.m. Saturday and the winner of that game faces South Highline National at 12 p.m. Sunday.
Sunday's winners meet in the winner's bracket final at 6 p.m. Wednesday, with the loser's bracket final at 10 a.m. Friday and the first championship at 10 a.m. Saturday followed immediately by any if-necessary game at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The Intermediate tournament between Majors and Juniors at PacWest starts this Friday, with Southwest meeting South Highline National at 6 p.m.
The winner plays West Seattle at 9 a.m. Saturday in the winner's bracket semifinal.
Saturday's winner plays in the championship at 6 p.m. Monday against the winner of the loser's bracket final to be played at 9 a.m. Sunday.
The if-necessary game is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday.
All of the tournaments are still subject to change -- especially depending upon the weather.
