Kennedy Catholic Announces Head Coaches for Lacrosse
Tue, 02/10/2015
Kennedy Catholic High School Athletic Director, Bob Bourgette, has announced the appointment of Natalie Merrill as head coach of girls’ lacrosse and Jonathan Schwartz and Brett Bowker as head co-coaches for boys’ lacrosse.
Coach Merrill has been involved in competitive lacrosse in the Puget Sound area since 2003. She starred and captained on a number of select teams including the Queen Anne Youth, Seattle Rainz, Puget Sound Select and Washington State Regional. While in high school, she helped establish the team at Kennedy Catholic and was selected for the First Team All-State four times. At Washington State University, Merrill served as the president of the WSU Women’s Club Lacrosse team and she currently serves as an official for the Washington Women’s Lacrosse Umpire Association.
Coach Schwartz has been active in the local lacrosse community for over a decade. He has coached all ages for the Mercer Island Lacrosse Club, Supersonics Lacrosse, and the O’dea Lacrosse Club. In 2005, he founded Wallnuts Lacrosse Training—providing personalized lesson plans for goalies and field players. Schwartz is a motivated, respected and highly dedicated lacrosse trainer. He prides himself on his commitment to teamwork and high ethical standards on and off the field.
Coach Bowker has coached since 2007 at the high school and middle school levels. He blends his degree in journalism with his passion for lacrosse as demonstrated with his previous work as a writer and multimedia producer for the National Lacrosse League and Walax.com.
“The combined talent and experience of these three coaches will advance the girls’ and boys’ lacrosse programs at Kennedy Catholic to an unprecedented level. We are excited for spring and look forward to playing on our new home field with an all-star coaching staff.”—Bob Bourgette
