Three decades of Burien performances definitely deserves an Encore! and that is exactly what ChoralSounds Northwest (CSN) is planning for their highly anticipated 30th Anniversary Concert on May 16th and 17th. Encore! is a nostalgic look back at CSN’s 30-year history of Spring concerts. They will deliver many of their greatest hits with a repertoire that combines popular music, folk songs and plenty of showtunes. Audiences will hear Broadway pieces from Miss Saigon, Into the Woods and Beauty and the Beast; there is a nod to memorable feature films like Working Girl (Let the River Run) and O Brother Where Art Thou (Down in the River to Pray) as well as American standards like That Old Black Magic and It’s Only a Paper Moon. CSN always delivers a knockout performance with full staging, lighting, props and choralography. Northwest Associated Arts and the CSN choral director Ryan Ellis anticipate a packed house. Many former CSN members are expected to attend to pay tribute to this beloved arts organization’s significant milestone.
CSN encourages families to attend with their affordable Youth Ticket Program. Parents and adults looking for a risk-free way to introduce their children to the joys of choral music can bring young guests for free. Youth under age 17 can attend for free with the purchase of an adult ticket.
ChoralSounds Northwest, a Burien-based chorus of 60 men and women, celebrated its 30th Anniversary in the Spring of 2015 under the gifted baton of Artistic Director Ryan Ellis. Ellis joined CSN in 2014 through a very successful partnership with the UW Choral Conducting program and he has focused his energies on delivering polished choral performances with great success. Audiences have delighted in recent concerts showcasing CSN’s return to high-quality musicianship and family-friendly fun. ChoralSounds is a part of Northwest Associated Arts, which includes KidSounds Northwest, YouthSounds Northwest, TeenSounds Northwest and SilverSounds Northwest.
