In a football game that paled in comparison to a fourth quarter injury that ended the action early, the Highline Pirates sailed to a 34-0 victory over Evergreen at Highline Memorial on Friday.

A player identified by a coach as Kenny Bui for Evergreen left in an ambulance, after the game was called with 3:35 remaining on the fourth quarter clock.

Bui is listed as a senior wide receiver and defensive back for the Wolverines. His condition was not known.
As for the game, Highline jumped out to an early lead and fended off Evergreen's offensive efforts from there.

Malik White to the left, Malik White to the right and Malik White up the middle was the recipe for the Pirates' success on their first drive.

The junior running back carried the ball all seven plays in an effort from 42 yards out into the end zone.
White capped off the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run, zigging and zagging up the middle.

Walker Taylor's kick was good after the touchdown for a 7-0 lead with 6:57 to play in the first quarter of what was the homecoming game for Highline.

Evergreen also mostly ran the ball in the game on the feet of Sione Kamoto and Mosese Vea, but its next drive was stopped by a fumble 20 yards from paydirt at the 2:40 mark.

Highline then drove to the 19 on its ensuing drive and also lost the ball on a fumble on the first play of the second quarter.

But the Pirates wound up scoring again after Evergreen punted with 10:24 remaining in the quarter.

A drive that began on their own 49 and lasted 11 plays ended with Ricky Castillo passing to Liam Allan to his right for a 3-yard score.

Taylor was also successful on that PAT kick to make it 14-0 with 5:09 remaining in the half.

Highline scored again with 9:47 to play in the third quarter on a 27-yard pass connection from Castillo to Jack Nelson that capped off a six-play, 69-yard drive after the second half kickoff.

Walker made it 21-0 with his kick, but missed left after a 65-yard touchdown run by Louis Faletogo with 4:25 left in the third quarter.

Highline drove close enough for Walker to try a 30-yard field goal as the third quarter ended, but it was blocked.

Faletogo scored again on a 9-yard run with 3:44 left to play in the fourth quarter.

Walker upped the lead to 34-0 with his kick, but the ensuing kickoff wound up being the last play as the action was called for the injury.
