Puyallup 3, Mt. Rainier 2
The Rams were outlasted, 25-9, 25-16, 25-27, 23-25, 15-10, by Puyallup to open South Puget Sound League tournament play Saturday.
Kentridge 3, Mt. Rainier 0
Mount Rainier finished eighth in the SPSL tournament with Saturday's second loss, but still qualified for this week's West Central District tournament.
The Chargers put the Rams away, 25-20, 25-23, 26-24.
West Seattle 3, Chief Sealth 1
The Wildcats won against the Seahawks in a loser-out Metro League tournament match Saturday.
West Seattle 3, Bainbridge 2
West Seattle followed up on its win over Chief Sealth by defeating Bainbridge in the contest for the Metro League's ninth and final berth into the Sea-King District tournament.
Boys cross country
Westside Classic 4A
Mount Rainier took eighth place as a team in Saturday's West Central District action held at American Lake with 256 points, but had no qualifiers for this coming Saturday's state meet.
Westside Classic 3A
Marino qualified 21st in Saturday's 3A boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 45.4 seconds. The Lancers did not place as a team.
Westside Classic 2A
Marques Chacon of Evergreen took second place in the 2A race in 16:41.3 and twin brother Matthew Chacon came in fourth in 17:02.
Their efforts led the Wolverines to a fifth place team finish with 162 points to qualify them as a unit to state.
Westside Classic 1A
Seattle Christian captured sixth place as a team with a score of 144 and had no state qualifiers.
Girls cross country
Westside Classic 4A
Mount Rainier finished 19th as a team with 432 points and had no state qualifiers.
Westside Classic 3A
Kennedy Catholic qualified three for state and finished ninth as a team with 206 points.
Grassley took 21st for the Lancers in a time of 21:31.6 and Bolma was 28th in 21:40.1, just ahead of teammate Tweedy's 21:40.4 time for 29th.
Westside Classic 2A
Highline placed 15th with a score of 353 and Tyee tookk 16th with 380.
There were no local state qualifiers.
Westside Classic 1A
Seattle Christian snagged a third place team finish with 73 points Saturday, just missing qualification for state as a unit.
Gibson finished first individually for the Warriors in 21:25.3 with Mayes third in 22:30.5 and Hoag fourth in 22:34.7.
Girls swimming
West Central District 4A
Mount Rainier finished 10th in Saturday's meet with a total of 100 points.
Friday, Oct. 30
Football
Seattle Lutheran 56, Muckleshoot 0
Seattle Lutheran of West Seattle capped off its SeaTac 1B League season with a road win Friday.
The Saints finished with a 3-1 league record for second place and a playoff berth and stand at 6-2 overall.
Seattle Prep 45, Chief Sealth 6
Chief Sealth took a loss in Metro League crossover action Friday.
Garfield 49, West Seattle 17
Garfield rallied to beat the Wildcats in another crossover game.
Bellingham 33, Highline 7
The Pirates journeyed up I-5 to Bellingham on Friday and took a non-league loss.

The Wildcats took a loss as Metro League tournament play opened Thursday.
Blanchet 3, Chief Sealth 0
Chief Sealth also dropped its Metro tournament opener.
West Seattle 3, Rainier Beach 0
The Wildcats rallied for a win over the Vikings in a loser-out second game.
Chief Sealth 3, Nathan Hale 1
Also winning a loser-out second tournament game was the Seahawks.

Seattle Lutheran took a SeaTac 1B League tournament loss to Christian Faith Center at Evergreen Lutheran High School in Puyallup on Thursday.

Shorewood Christian of West Seattle fell to Puget Sound Adventist on Thursday.

Shorewood Christian and Seattle Lutheran wound up playing each other in Thursday's second match, with Shorewood Christian prevailing.

Shorewood Christian finished fifth in the tournament with Thursday's win to qualify for Tri-District action that starts Thursday at Evergreen Lutheran.
Seattle Lutheran was assured of qualifying seventh or eighth.

Foster nabbed the No. 1 Class 2A seed and finished third overall at 9-5.

The Pirates wound up at 4-10 but still qualified for district 2A action as the No. 4 seed.

The Totems dropped their season finale to the Highlanders.
