West Seattle fivesome signs
Five athletes from West Seattle High School signed on for college scholarships this week.
Lexi Ioane will play basketball and run track at Adams State University and Olivia Williams will play soccer at Chico State, while Gabby Carufel will swim for Loyola Marymount University.
Lani Taylor will compete in track at Seattle Pacific University and Chaaka Trahan is also accepting a track scholarship.
Kela still on disabled list
Chief Sealth graduate Keone Kela remains on the 60-day disabled list as a relief pitcher for the Texas Rangers after undergoing elbow surgery.
Brett has yet to play for Bulls
Ryan Brett, a Highline High School graduate, is still on the disabled list for the Durham Bulls -- the Class AAA affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Barnette here with Rangers
Thomas Jefferson graduate Tony Barnette is in town this weekend as a relief pitcher for the Texas Rangers as they take on the Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field.
Barnette, who spent the past six seasons in Japan, has a 3-2 record with a 3.16 earned run average. He has recorded 18 strikeouts in 25.2 innings while walking only six.
Conger batting .211 for Rays
Federal Way native Hank Conger is hitting .211 (16-for-76) as a catcher for the Tampa Bay Rays.
Conger has three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI and four runs scored.
Ishikawa has six home runs
Federal Way graduate Travis Ishikawa has six home runs and four doubles for the Charlotte Knights, the AAA affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
He also has 18 RBI, 24 runs scored and 14 walks but is batting only .201at 31-for-154.
