GWIN LESTER SMITH

Gwin Lester Smith passed away on August 12, 2016 at 91 years of age. Gwin was born in Seattle, Washington on February 24, 1925 to Lavern and Anna Smith. He was raised in West Seattle and graduated from West Seattle High School.
In July of 1948 Gwin married Florene Adele Nelson and together they settled in Burien, where they made their home for more than sixty years. Gwin founded Economy Wiring in 1953 and was joined in the business by his son Jay after he graduated from WSU.
Gwin enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and coaching little league baseball. He was a founding member of the Burien Elks and many a Saturday night would find him and Florene on the dance floor enjoying the music and kicking up their heels.
Gwin is survived by his wife Florene, daughter Kristy (Bill), son Jay (Gail), two granddaughters, one grandson and three great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the home of Jay and Gail Smith, 20217 Marine View Drive SW, Normandy Park, Washington.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
