Students and staff are working hard, and it’s paying off. Highline Public Schools’ Shorewood Elementary and CHOICE Academy were recognized with the 2017 School of Distinction Award. The award is given to the top 5 percent of schools in Washington State that have made sustained improvement in reading and math.
- Shorewood Elementary — One of the 5 percent highest improving schools in the state for increased English Language Arts/Math achievement
- CHOICE Academy — One of the 5 percent highest improving schools in the state for increased English Language Arts/Math achievement and graduation rate
“This award demonstrates what happens when we hold our students to high expectations,”
said Superintendent Susan Enfield. “Staff, students and families at both schools have worked diligently to improve. I am very proud of their hard work."
This is the second year in a row Shorewood has earned the honor.
The Center for Educational Effectiveness in partnership with the Association of Educational Service Districts, The Association of Washington School Principals, Washington Association of School Administrators, Washington State School Directors’ Association and the Washington State Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development present the award.
