The North Highline Unincorporated Area Council (NHUAC) invites the community to an informative meeting on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 7 pm at the North Highline Fire Station located at 1243 SW 112th Street in White Center. Members of the community are encouraged to attend, learn, share, and contribute to making their community a better place. Parking and entrance are located behind the station.
The upcoming meeting promises to be engaging, featuring introductions to new community members and updates on important local services and initiatives.
The evening will begin with a warm welcome to James Bivans, one of the owners of Wolfpack Cellars, a Burien-based winery set to relocate to 9617 16th SW in White Center in June. Wolfpack Cellars is a small, LGBTQ-owned business producing local Washington wines. Attendees will have the opportunity to welcome James and the Wolfpack Cellars to White Center.
Following the introduction to Wolfpack Cellars, Leon Richardson, the Director of King County’s Department of Local Services (DLS), will address the council and the community. The DLS provides essential services to North Highline, including zoning, permitting, code enforcement, and roads. Richardson stated that the DLS’s “goal is to make sure residents in unincorporated King County have access to responsive, equitable, and effective local government services”. He will be present to explain the various services and opportunities that the DLS is making available to the North Highline community. This will be a valuable opportunity for residents to learn more about how King County serves their area.
The Department of Natural Resources and Parks (DNRP) is a crucial part of DLS, and the meeting will also feature Joanna Nelson de Flores, the Urban Forestry Program Manager of DNRP. She will provide an update on the Glendale Forest, a new forested park located in unincorporated North Highline. The community is invited to attend and learn about this new community asset, as well as other projects planned to enhance the health of North Highline.
NHUAC encourages residents to come with questions and be ready to share their thoughts, emphasizing that “Knowledge is power”
