Candidates for State Senate from the 34th Distrct Sofia Aragon, Shannon Braddock, Joe Ngyuen, Lois Schipper, Lem Charleston and Hillary Shaw came to White Center on Tuesday night July 24 to introduce themselves and the issues they care about.
Six first time political candidates came together in a candidate forum in White Center on Tuesday, July 24. All vying for the 34th District senate seat now occupied by the retiring Sharon Nelson, Sofia Aragon, Shannon Braddock, Joe Ngyuen, Lois Schipper, Lem Charleston and Hillary Shaw showed that they essentially agree on most issues. The 90 minute forum was sponsored by The White Center Chamber of Commerce, White Center Community Development Association, and Tommy Sound (the host).
Aaron Garcia of the WCCDA served as moderator taking questions from the audience and directing them to the candidates.
Each of the candidates had a chance to speak about the issues they are passionate about and the discussion ranged from homelessness, gun safety, business improvement, education, native American tribal recognition, crime, and more.
