Dow Constantine highlights launch of cleanup effort in King County
King County Executive Dow Constantine donned a vest, and grabbed a broom and dustpan to highlight the cleanup effort now underway by the county in a partnership with Uplift NW. Groups of five will head out to various areas around the county to clean up graffiti and pick up litter. These will be part of a jobs program in which 300 people will be employed.

King County Executive Dow Constantine came to White Center on Tuesday March 30 to highlight an effort to clean up public areas spoiled by litter and graffiti. He was joined the King County Conservation Corps, and UpliftNW.org (formerly known as the Millionaires Club) which offers dignified employment opportunities to people experiencing homelessness and poverty while cleaning and removing graffiti from urban unincorporated areas.
As part of his $600 million proposed emergency budget, Executive Constantine outlined a new $40 million effort to create 300 jobs for those enrolled in the County's housing and shelter programs, as well as expanding the current Conservation Corps.
