“I want to remind you I have a gun”
Around 3 p.m. on Feb. 21 a woman was home alone in an upstairs bedroom of her 30th Ave S.W. home when she heard rummaging, voices and the yip of her small dog on the main floor. She went down to the living room and came upon two male suspects. “What are you doing here?!” she yelled. The two men stopped their rummaging. One suspect responded, “I want to remind you I have a gun!” and then lifted the gun from a right leg pocket to illustrate the fact. The woman grabbed her dog and went back upstairs. She saw one of the suspects carry a computer monitor out of her home as the men took off northbound on 30th.

Taking the unusual
On Feb 19 unknown suspects broke into a 35th Ave SW home sometime in the evening and stole what the responding officer deemed “unusual” in his report: costume jewelry, a broken laptop, one bottle of vodka, a martini shaker and a lighter.

Burglar burglarizes own home (sort of)
On Feb. 21 neighbors on the 5400 block of 31st Ave S.W. called police to report someone had kicked in the front door of a nearby home and a suspect was now loading objects into a car parked in the driveway. Witnesses also told the dispatcher they recognized the car and suspect as the most recent tenant of the home. By the time police arrived the suspect was gone. A neighbor said the suspect had been served an eviction notice in January and the owner of the property changed the locks to ensure he wouldn’t come back. As officers cleared the home for additional suspects they realized they were likely in the lair of a repeat burglar with “multiple items of evidence relating to possible earlier burglaries in the Seattle area …” The suspect is at large and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

String of jukebox burglaries
Shortly after 5 a.m. on Feb. 15 someone broke into a bar on the 4700 block of California Ave S.W. with the sole intent of stealing the jukebox cash box. The unknown suspect broke a window to gain entry and pried open the machine. He/she left the coin box intact and took off with the currency. The jukebox owner told police five of his machines had been broken into over the past two days: one in Burien, one in Des Moines, one in Ballard and two that morning, including the West Seattle theft.

Good Samaritan stops a robbery
Earlier this month a man stepped off the Metro at 15th Ave SW and Roxbury and started walking westbound on Roxbury. He noticed two male teens at the bus stop were now following him and soon one of the suspects said, “Give me your phone.” The victim refused and the teens started punching and kicking him. A Good Samaritan pulled over and yelled at the teens, prompting them to flee but not before pushing the victim into a mud puddle on the north side of the Roxbury sidewalk. Nothing was stolen.
