I’ll give you your stuff if you give me mine
A man who rents out various rooms in his residence on 18th Ave S.W. gave a 30-day eviction notice to a man living in the basement. The tenant was living with a female who, according to the landlord, was living in her car some time back and was allowed to stay with the tenant, but only for a day or two. Several months later she was still there and the two were causing the landlord headaches. Thirty days came earlier this month and the landlord changed the locks on the basement apartment. A few days later his personal place was broken into and the perps (he believes it was the ex-tenants) made off with two video game systems, a gold cross with a pewter Jesus and a set of keys to a Mercedes, shed, gate and motorcycle. The victim decided not to call police at the time because he knew the ex-tenants would be back for their belongings at some point. The female suspect did show up and asked the victim for the dog food she left there. Bartering began and he told her she would get the dog food as soon as he got his stuff back. As the report states, “they went back and forth several times both requesting their stuff,” until the victim closed and locked his door. The female kicked the front door down and fled eastbound on Thistle in a gray to silver boxy car. Police are now looking for the woman.
New home surprise
Earlier this month a married couple purchased a South Park home from the bank. After getting the keys they headed to the 10th Ave S abode and discovered a male, female and young male child in the basement, huddled up against the baseboard heater (electricity was still connected). The family left the home immediately, leaving behind a few belongings: a can of WD40, hand moisturizer and a small piece of copper tubing. The couple said it appeared the family only stayed in the basement and never went upstairs.
Robbed and beaten after a night at the bar
On the morning of March 8 a woman went to the Southwest Precinct to report being robbed and beaten. She spent the night at Harborview Medical center recovering from her injuries, described as “bruised and battered” all over. The woman told police she went to a 4500 block of California Ave S.W. bar for a drink, but her memory is not totally clear from that point on. She believes she was robbed around 2:30 a.m. on the 4500 block of 42nd Ave S.W. Here necklace and silver bracelet were stolen and scrapes on her leather jacket and boots indicated she was dragged across the pavement. Police took the jacket and boots as evidence and the woman said she would contact the bartender to find out if he had any hints about what happened that night.
Convenience store robbery early in the day
A 3800 block of California Ave S.W. convenience store was robbed at 10:30 a.m. on March 8. The suspect walked into the store and displayed a semi-automatic handgun from his right coat pocket and demanded cash. The teller gave him all of the register cash and the suspect fled eastbound on S.W. Charlestown St. The suspect was described as “a black male, dark complexion with braids in his late 20’s, approx. 5’10”, 220 lbs heavy set wearing a dark knit cap, a black puffy jacket with white arms and shoulders, and grey sweatpants.” A witness saw a man fitting that description jump into the passenger side of a soft top white Jeep Wrangler.
