Key Bank in Burien robbed June 25
The King County Sheriffʼs Office has confirmed that the Key Bank located in the 17800
block of First Ave S., was robbed Monday afternoon, June 25.

“Around 3:30 p.m., a white male presented a note at the Key Bank,” said Sgt. Cindi West of the KCSO. “He was described as in his 20ʼs, thin build, wearing a grey baseball cap and brown sweatshirt.”

According to West, the suspect escaped on foot, with an unknown amount of cash. He is still at large, according to her last report.

Community saddened by former Tukwila Council member Dave Fentonʼs passing Sunday, June 24, due to motorcycle crash The City of Tukwila has issued a statement of emembrance for David Fenton, 67, who was killed in a motorcycle accident on June 24 on W. Marginal Way:

"The entire Tukwila community was saddened to hear of Dave Fentonʼs fatal accident on Sunday, June 24. His commitment to the community and City – both people and programs will surely be missed. Mr. Fenton was first elected to the Tukwila City Council in November 1997, and took office January 5, 1998. He chaired the Finance and Safety Committee his first year on the Council, and served as Council President his second year. He served eight years as a Council member and countless others as an involved resident, invested community member and business owner. Prior to becoming a Council member, Dave was appointed to the Community Police Advisory Board and was an active member of the Apartment Managers Network. He owned and maintained one of the safest and most attractive apartment complexes in Tukwila and represented the interests of Tukwila residents who live in multi-family housing. Additional activities that
Dave was involved in include the Tukwila International Boulevard Action Committee
(formerly referred to as the Highway 99 Action Committee), Foster High School Site
Council and Tukwila Village NOW. "

According to a June 24 press release from Renee Witt, Seattle Police Department, witnesses stated that at approximately 2 p.m. on that day a motorcyclist and a black car were racing northbound on West Marginal Way. The motorcyclist either failed to negotiate the curve or was forced off the road by the car. The motorcyclist died instantly after hitting a light pole. The search for the car is ongoing and there are no suspects at this time. Suspect Vehicle: Black import car with tinted windows, two hood scoops, and a rear spoiler.

Anyone with information about this incident or the above described vehicle is asked to call 911. This is an active and on-going case.

Tukwila man charged for beating another man with metal sign
Jaquon J. Hogues, 17, from Tukwila, was charged Monday, June 25 as an adult with first-degree assault for beating a 30 year-old man unconscious with a metal sign post early Thursday, June 21.

He is being held at the Norm Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent, which has a wing for juvenile defendants, in lieu of $500,000 bail, jail records show.

The alleged victim, Hassan Arr, remained unconscious and was breathing with the aid of a ventilator as of Monday. The following day he had been moved into an acute care floor
at Harborview Medical Center, according to spokeswoman Susan Gregg. No motive for the alleged attack has been cited.

At 12:45 a.m. Thursday, a taxi driver was fueling his cab at a Shell gas station at 14620 Tukwila International Blvd. when he first heard a group of men shouting profanities, charging papers say. Soon after, the taxi driver saw Hassan, who he knew, run into station convenience store, pursued by a younger male, who grabbed Hassanʼs jacket and shook him before the store clerk shooed both of them outside, the papers say. Hassan then ran toward his home in the Edgewood Apartments on South 148th St. A neighbor was awakened by the sound of footsteps in the stairwell, and then heard a heavy object being dragged down the same stairs. The woman also heard “a grunting noise, giving her the impression someone was being struck,” followed by the sound of a metal pole dropping to the ground. The woman looked out her window and saw a young man. She also heard the alleged victim gasping for breath, so she called 911 and provided a description of the man sheʼd seen walking out of the complex parking lot. A Tukwila officer located Hogues nearby and noticed he had blood on his clothing, according to charging papers.

Officers also found the victim, who was laying near a patch of dirt where a sign post had been, along with a metal pole and sign covered in blood. He suffered a potentially lifethreatening
head injury. Hogues is to be arraigned July 9.
