What do we do with these?
On Oct. 12, sometime after midnight, unknown burglars broke into Youngstown Cultural Arts Center on Delridge Way S.W. and stole four computer servers from the boiler/mechanical room. Possibly confused by the technology or disappointed the servers would not be able to run video games, the burglars dumped three against the east wall of the center and a fourth was found at some nearby tennis courts.
Sports memorabilia disappears
Unknown suspects broke into a home on the 2500 block of S.W. Trenton St. on Oct. 9 sometime during the workday and stole an estimated $20,000 worth of personal items from the victim, including two very rare pairs of Air Jordan basketball shoes. Just around the corner, on the same day, someone stole an autographed Ken Griffey Jr. baseball and engraved Griffey photo from a 22nd Ave S.W. home.
Taco theft
Someone broke into a mobile “taco truck” on the 5400 block of Delridge Way S.W. on Oct. 11 and stole the fixings to make tacos and a microwave oven.
Missing lip, not a victim
A fight between three young males on the 9400 block of 20th Ave S.W. left one victim with a piece of his lower lip missing after his assailant took a bite. Police responded to the home after the victim’s mother called 911, but officers said he was “uncooperative and agitated,” going so far as to say he did not “want to be a victim,” and refusing medical attention for his missing part. While details remained sketchy, police learned from witnesses that two other males came to the house and got into a fight with the victim while a third male videotaped the whole thing. No one knew who the videographer was for sure.
Burglar fails on follow-up
Sometime over the weekend of Oct. 13 – 14, someone broke into a 39th Ave S.W. garage by disabling the motion detector lights before kicking down a door, then removing the garage door opener lights before opening it and piling several items in the driveway for a later pickup. The victim arrived home to find his items sitting in the driveway, beating the criminals to the punch. Some smaller items were reported missing.
