Burglarized, but not concerned
The one-time owner of a home on the 3500 block of S.W. 106th St. received a call from a King County Sheriff’s Office detective on Oct. 26 that someone was in custody and had some of his personal belongings. The victim was told to contact Seattle Police, did so, and told them he had abandoned the home six months prior because he could not pay the mortgage. He left several items inside the home and Bank of America had since resumed control. The victim told police he “no longer claim(s) any financial interest in the property or the items left inside” and had no interest in recovering the stolen goods. The suspect was arrested driving a stolen vehicle with several bags of possible stolen property inside.
Thwarting the robber
Late night (around 1:30 a.m.) after a night on the town, a man living near the Junction took a cab home, but asked the driver to stop at a convenience store at the corner of California Ave S.W. and S.W. Erskine Way so he could purchase a few items and hoof it the rest of the way. He stepped out of the cab and was immediately accosted by an unknown suspect who punched him in the face and attempted to steal his wallet. The victim was able to fight him off, and the suspect ran southbound on California. Suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 35 to 40 years old wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.
Suspicious fumigator
The tenant of an apartment complex of the 9000 block of 35th Ave S.W. left her home around 11 a.m. on Oct. 29 when a man claiming to be a fumigator arrived. The woman’s landlord had set up the appointment. When she returned home around 4:30 that afternoon her front door was open and electronics and jewelry were missing. She told police she found it odd that the fumigator was not wearing any sort of company clothes. It was unclear from the report whether the fumigator was responsible or possibly left the home unlocked when he left, leaving the option for someone else to swoop in. Police continue to investigate.
