Chongqing Nankai girls basketball team. The team from Seattle's sister city Chongqing, China came to play an exhibition game against Sealth High School's girls basketball team. They won the game and forged great relationships.
The Sealth Seahawk girls basketball team lost to the girls of Chongqing Nankai… but did they actually lose?
Sport is a funny thing. In a world of suspicion and divisiveness sports can actually bring people together under the banner of fair play.
Athletes don’t care about politics or language. They care about the commonality of completion. Win, lose, or draw it’s all about the effort given on the court. That’s what the game between the Sealth Seahawks and the Nankai team was all about. This was evident after the game when all of the girls gathered on the court after the game and hugged, smiled, and caressed each other. There is a lesson to be learned from this encounter… we are more alike than we are different.
