Light bulbs and useless paperwork
On Dec. 30, someone broke into a condominium storage shed on the 200 block of Harbor Ave S.W. and stole $600 dollars worth of light bulbs and boxes of condo association records. The records contained no personal information on tenants, nor were there any blank checks inside.
Layers of defense
An unknown burglar failed in his attempt to access a home on the 8400 block of 12th Ave S.W. on Dec. 30. Around 11 a.m., someone used a concrete block to break the window of a sun porch, gaining access and unlocking the outside door to the area. Once inside the sun porch, the burglar likely realized the next door – the one leading into the home – was secured with metal bars. Nothing was missing from the sun porch and the armored door was left alone.
Stealing beautification supplies
On Dec. 31, workers at the non-profit White Center Community Development Association discovered their storage shed had been broken into. The unknown criminal(s) stole “Spring Clean” supplies, including paint rollers, trash cans and awnings. Spring Clean is a yearly volunteer-driven event to clean up the streets and parks of White Center.
Wallet thief
Around the New Year, a woman waiting for a bus on the 9200 block of Delridge Way S.W.was killing time by looking through her wallet when a female suspect walked up behind her, grabbed the wallet, and ran southbound into White Center. The victim told police she knew the woman’s first name and that she was known to frequent the streets in that area.
Burglary follows passing
In early January, someone burglarized the home of a recently deceased woman on 34th Ave S.W. The mother’s children were in town due to her recent passing and had their personal belongings stolen, along with their mother’s TV and miscellaneous jewelry. A neighbor reported seeing a small red compact car backed into the victims’ driveway at a glance, but by the time she looked back it was gone.
