Robbed on the bus
It was Jan. 23, around 5:30 p.m., when a man minding his own business, listening to music on his headphones, and riding Metro’s Rt. 120 bus realized someone was sitting behind him where only moments before the seat was empty. The suspect, who came from the rear of the bus, asked the man about his headphones before ripping them off his head, and then reached over the seat to steal the victim’s MP3 music player. The victim started to turn around but was told to stop. The suspect claimed he had a handgun pointed at the victim’s back (through the seat), and told him “not to do anything stupid.” The suspect (no description given) and an acquaintance got off the bus at the 8800 block of 25th Ave. S.W.
Robbed at the store
Shortly after 6 p.m. on Jan. 21 a man walked into a convenience store on the corner of 35th Ave S.W. and S.W. Roxbury St., pulled a 9mm handgun out, pointed it at the clerk’s groin and said, “Everything in the till.” The victim, whose wife was in the back of the shop unaware, gave the suspect $200 before the crook fled northbound on foot. Police were checking surveillance cameras for a good look at their suspect who was described as a black male with light complexion, 25 to 35 years old, 5 foot, 9 inches, thin build, with freckles on the top parts of his cheeks and wearing a black beanie and black puffy coat. The suspect wore a bandana that covered the bottom half of his face.
Keep an eye out
As you peruse pawn and other jewelry-purchasing shops in the coming weeks, keep an eye out for a pair of chandelier-style, clear rhinestone earrings, a silver ring with “Carpe Diem” engraved on the top and a bone-colored bracelet engraved with “I’d rather be in Paris.” Someone broke into a home on the 4700 block of 35th Ave. S.W. on Jan. 21 and stole the unique jewelry along with a Macbook Pro computer.
Too close for comfort
On Jan. 27 around 1:15 p.m. a blue Chevy Blazer (or similar SUV type) pulled up to a house on the 7300 block of 32nd Ave S.W. and fired at least five gunshots at the residence. The shots hit a fence post, tree branch, the front door and living room window. Two bullets made their way into the home, but an adult male and female inside were not hit. An area search for the SUV and it’s unknown occupants didn’t turn anyone up, but police continue to investigate.
