St. Patrick's Day is usually day for wearing green, enjoying some beer, singing songs and having a traditional Irish meal. Fortunately West Seattle is home to several places where all that is not only possible but likely next Sunday, March 17.
Celtic Swell at 2722 Alki Ave. SW gets its celebration underway starting March 15 offering live music and drink specials, door prizes, and more. Over the course of the weekend you'll hear music from Carrigaline, Shivering Denizens, JP Hennesey, The Irish Experience, Pipe and Drums. They are also holding a no doubt hilarious Pet Costume Contest on March 16 during the 3 day celebration. That event will feature a Pets & Their People photo booth with proceeds going to benefit the Seattle Humane Society. Check our previous coverage for the complete story.
A Terrible Beauty at 4752 California Ave. SW is also holding a three day celebration at all three of their locations (Renton and Lake Union).
They are featuring a large number of bands over the three days. On Friday March 15 it gets underway at 5:30pm with JP Hennesey followed by the Bang Ons at 9:30pm. Saturday features Erin McNamee at 5:30pm and The boys of Greenwood Glen at 9:30. Sunday starts with a brunch at 10am with music from JP Hennesey, followed by Kevin McCormack, then Fields Under Clover, Kevin McCormack for a second set, then Talamh Arsa and Erin McNamee Band to close out the evening. Also on March 17, The Alki Tavern will celebrate it's last day of operation after 38 years with a St. Paddy's day celebration featuring Corned Beef and Cabbage and a lot more. It promises to be a bittersweet celebration as the Alki Tavern closes for the last time.
