Some people are just naturally creative and explore their talents at an early age. Kyle Jensen is one of those.
You may remember that he and his friend Asa Beuhler built a roving "moonbot" in November as part of the Lunar X Prize competition. They were the only finalists in the Pacific Northwest.

Now he has won an award from the National Film Festival for Talented Youth (NFFTY). His short film, "Growth Ray", earned him the "New Talent Award" in the 12-and-under category.

NFFTY is the world's largest festival dedicated to young filmmakers, from ages 22 on down. The youngest filmmaker ever selected in it was 7, although Kyle was the youngest selectee this year, having been 9 when he made the film. Over 200 films were screened, from directors in 20 countries.

"Growth Ray" is an eight-minute sci-fi comedy that takes place throughout Seattle. Other West Seattle children in the cast are Asa Buehler, Violet Watterson, and Max Scearce.
