Never too old to throw a punch
Police were called to a South Park nursing home on April 28 after a 92-year-old woman and her elderly roommate (age not given) got into a fight. Nurses said the two started fighting after the 92-year-old confronted her roomie about the perpetual mess she lives in, which was spilling over into the pair’s common area. The untidy woman said she was punched in the shoulder and, as a result of the melee, was moved to a different floor. No arrests were made.
Hold up in South Delridge
Just after 8 p.m. on April 28 a young man walked into a store on the 9400 block of 16th Ave. S.W., pulled out a handgun and pointed it sideways at the clerk and threw a backpack at him, demanding he fill it with cash. The victim invited the robber to come around the counter and take what he wanted, but he refused. After the victim handed over cash and his wallet, the suspect fled northbound. A K-9 tracking unit was able to pick up the crook’s scent and followed it to an alley on Delridge Way S.W. where a Seahawks baseball cap was found (matching the suspect description). The trail ended there. The suspect was described as a mixed race male with light skin wearing a dark blue hoody, dark blue pants, thick glasses (“almost goggle-like”) wearing blue latex gloves and donning a light mustache.
iPhone theft and honesty
A teenager told her parents she was sleeping over at a friend’s house in the Admiral District on April 26, but the two friends managed to alter their plans and sneak out to meet some boys at the Admiral Safeway. They met up with several more teens inside the store. The eventual suspect asked one of the teen girls if he could borrow her iPhone 5 to make a call. She agreed and he started walking away acting as if he was making a call. He kept walking and disappeared in the aisles. The victim said her friend spotted him across the street and confronted him, but the suspect allegedly pulled out a handgun, ending the conversation. The next day, the victim had to come clean with her parents about what happened once they questioned where her phone ended up. They then called the police.
