Wakeboard tour coming
The MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour presented by Rockstar, the largest and most storied professional wakeboarding circuit in the world, will host its fourth event of the 2013 season in Monroe on July 12 – 13 at Lake Tye. The event will feature a contingent of the world’s best wakeboarders competing in the Pro Men’s Division as well as the sport’s future stars in the Overton’s Junior Pro Men Series.
Last season, Harley Clifford narrowly edged out Phillip Soven to claim the Pro Tour title. The two will look to continue their rivalry in Monroe, but also face stiff competition from a very talented pool of riders including Rusty Malinoski, Steel Lafferty and Dean Smith. The athletes accumulate points at each stop based on their placement in each contest. The highest total points-earner at the end of the five-event season will be crowned the Pro Tour champion.
Following the Pro Men’s finals on June 13, the crowd will also enjoy the Polaroid Action Big Air Contest. The jaw-dropping specialty event features some of the best Pro Men riders launching from a ramp to perform massive rotating aerials that are rarely accomplished in a traditional contest setting.
The first day of action in Monroe will feature qualifying rounds and is free to the public. Tickets for Saturday’s finals are available online for $7 (46% off the gate price) and include an exclusive Overton’s discount code for online buyers only. Gate prices are: $13 (adult); $5 (ages 6-12); free (ages 5 and under).
