The 1-3 Seahawks (1-2 conference) took on the (1-3) Franklin Quakers (1-2 conference) at Southwest Athletic Complex (SWAC) Friday night for the Chief Sealth homecoming game and their last home game of the season.

Chief Sealth gave the homecoming crowd a reason to celebrate.

After a game last week where nothing seemed to go right, the Seahawks demonstrated the power of positive thinking and played a consistent, hard hitting game for four quarters this week, winning the battle for turnovers, capitalizing on Franklin's mistakes and even getting a defensive score on a fumble recovery by Senior Linebacker Joe Kilgore.

The first half was a battle. Chief Sealth got on the boards first and early with a long run by Brady Crane, going up 6-0. Franklin answered quickly with 6 of their own with a 20 yard run by James Flowers III, and the offensive show was on. Franklin and Chief Sealth traded leads 3 times in the first half with some athletic plays including a 30 yard pass to Quaker Malik Abdil-Haqq to give Franklin their first lead, and 2 great plays by Chief Sealth Senior Leeandre Dickerson. Dickerson ran off tackle for 15 yards to tie the game at 13, then caught a 20+ yard pass to set up a Quarterback keeper by Weston Reed to tie it again at 20 at the half.

The 2nd half had both teams marching up and down the field. Franklin looked as though they were going to get the edge and got as close at the 1 yard line, but couldn't convert. On a controversial 4th down play, Franklin appeared to score, but the run was ruled a fumble and a touchback, and the ball went back to Chief Sealth.

The Seahawks took advantage of the opportunity and played their game, alternating inside and outside runs with an occasional pass, closing the deal with a pass to Alloney Burris for his first of two TD's for the night. That put Sealth up 27-20, and they kept the lead for the rest of the game. Franklin came within 7 points twice more in the 2nd half, but could not catch up to the Seahawks, who's defense stepped up in critical situations and frustrated the Quakers offense. Chief Sealth broke the game open in the last half of the 4th quarter putting the game out of reach. The final score was Chief Sealth 62, Franklin 34.

Seahawk QB Weston Reed had a great night, throwing for three touchdowns and running for one. In all, Chief Sealth scored 9 touchdowns from seven players, including two by Dickerson and Burris. Sealth power runner Daron Camacho scored once and had two long TD runs called back on penalties.

Quaker QB Montique Jenkins threw for two TD's.

Chief Sealth starts their three game road series next week against Nathan Hale at the Northeast Athletic Complex at Nathan Hale high school. Kick-off is at 6:00.
