Foiled burglary attempt, suspect also witness
Nov. 30 at the 3 block of NW 75th St., officers responded to a reported interrupted burglary attempt. Officers met the victims in front of their garage. They reported that they heard trashcans moved and went outside to find a suspect walking away. As the suspect fled they called out to him and he said that he had not seen anybody and kept moving. The victims found a broken padlock off the door of their garage. The suspect did not make entry and nothing was missing.
Door withstands burglary, suspects spooked
Nov. 25 at 8:44 a.m. on the 6500 block of 15th Ave. N.W., officers responded to an attempted burglary report at Belay Apartments. Two suspects attempted to use a “window-punch” to break through a glass pane. Security footage shows that the apparent “lookout suspect” saw something that “spooked” him and detoured them from going further with the break-in. One suspect was wearing designer camouflage pants and with a matching hat, with a trimmed beard and black hooded sweatshirt. The suspects damaged a double-sided door.
Burglar gains entry, lamps suffer
At 10:53 p.m. on Nov. 23, officers responded to an alarm at a residence on the 7300 block of 18th Ave. N.W. Officers found a back sliding door slightly opened. They announced themselves and entered to find no one there. They saw a broken lamp knocked off a dresser. They went upstairs to find the rom rifled through with drawers pulled out and items on the floor. Another lamp had been swiped off a dresser. The victim’s daughter arrived and she could not be sure that anything had been stolen. She explained that her parents were in Centralia, WA. She confirmed that the room had indeed been rummaged through and that the lamps had been broken. Her parents claimed to have had locked all doors before they had gone. Officers saw no sign of forced entry.
Door withstands burglary with minor dings
Nov 23, at 9 p.m. officers responded to an attempted burglary. A victim flagged officers down on the 7300 block of 18th Ave N.W. Two female residents showed officers their dented door and dead bolt. The doorframe had visible marks and was cracked, indicating someone had tried to pry the door open. The burglar did not manage to get the door open and nothing was stolen.
Bicycle stolen from storage unit
Nov. 22, at 7:38 a.m. officers arrived at a residence on 6500 block of 15th Ave., where there was a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim had placed his bicycle in a storage area with no personal lock. The storage area consisted of a metal gate that enclosed a space.
There was no sign of forced entry, however the officers noted that the suspect could have climbed over the gate to gain access. Other routes of access were for residents to simply ask management for a security card to the gated area. The building has security cameras but officers were unable to obtain the footage. Fingerprints were also unattainable, as there was ice on the gate.
