Wellspring Family Services launches campaign for homeless children in King County
Thu, 01/16/2014
Wellspring Family Services has launched an outreach effort called Sweet Dreams, to help ensure that homeless children in King County have everything they need for a good night's rest.
Sound sleep plays a key role in building a solid foundation for proper mind and body development. For children experiencing the negative effects of crisis and trauma, this healthy sleep is especially important.
The first step is to provide parents with everything they need to provide a structured bedtime routine for their children - cozy pajamas, clean underwear and socks, a warm bed and bedding, and a bedtime story.*
Between January 15 and March 31, community members are invited to give the gift of Sweet Dreams by:
Making a financial contribution – When you make a gift to Wellspring, $0.87 of every dollar goes directly to supporting children and families experiencing crisis, and provides access to the essential items all children need for a good night's sleep.
Donating a new essential bedtime item – All children need and deserve a bedtime routine to help them sleep well. To view our list of suggested new items, please view our "Sweet Dreams Wishlist."
Hosting a donation drive – Hosting a donation drive is a fun, meaningful, and rewarding way to spread the Sweet Dreams message among friends, family, and colleagues. For more information, please view our Donate Essentials & Other Items page.
Volunteering – Make Sweet Dreams a reality for children by volunteering with your friends, family, or co-workers! Please view our Volunteer page for more information.
Staying Connected – Follow our Blog for inspiring stories of the gift of Sweet Dreams – from our former clients, donors, volunteers, child philanthropists, and more – and share it with your online friends! You can also stayed tuned via our Facebook and Twitter pages for up-to-date information on other ways to get involved.
* All donated items will help stock the shelves of our Baby Boutique, our on-site store where homeless families can shop for free. New donations of children's beds and bedding will help support formerly homeless children & families who have been placed in housing, but do not have furniture or beds.
