UPDATE: Duwamish Alive will work to clean up and fix up river banks and more

UPDATE April 19
Duwamish Alive organizers report that the restoration and clean up effort on April 19 is getting strong support from volunteers but that three locations are in need of extra help. Volunteers are asked to concentrate their efforts at these points:
Hamm Creek, 10000 W. Marginal Pl South Tukwila, Wa 98168 The site is being led by the Veterans Conservation Corps (don't need to be a vet to volunteer here).
Longfellow Creek/Brandon Street, Brandon St. & 29th Ave. SW Seattle The site is being led by the King County Conservation District.
Herrings House Park, W Marginal Way SW & SW Alaska St. Seattle The site is being led by the Seattle Parks Dept.

If you care about the Duwamish River April 19 is your chance to prove it. Duwamish Alive, an annual river bank clean up and upgrade effort. Sponsored by the Rose Foundation and Keen Footwear. The EPA listed the lower Duwamish River, five miles of which passes through south Seattle, as a Superfund site in 2001. Since then efforts have been made to clean it up, but more work is needed.
The West Seattle Rotary club will install a bench, an interpretive sign, re-grade a manual boat launch, and if time permits take down a few more invasive trees (White Poplars).
You will find Rotary Club members at T-105 and T-107 doing mulching around trees and shrubs that have recently been planted
