Track and field
State 2A meet
Caroline Tupa of Evergreen captured second place in the girls Class 2A state shotput competition held at Mount Tahoma High School in Tacoma with a throw of 40 feet, 10.00 inches.
She also took third in the discus at 117-10.
Tupa tallied a total of 14 points -- all of her team's total that gave them a tie for 14th place.
The Wolverines tied for 46th as a team on the boys side with one point.
Marques Chacon scored the point by making the boys 3,200-meter run finals, taking eighth in 9 minutes, 41.45 seconds.
Coming in right behind him in ninth was brother Matthew Chacon in 9:43.84.
State 2B meet
Seattle Lutheran High School of West Seattle scored three points for 30th place in action held at Eastern Washington University in Cheney on the efforts of Macey Crooks, who secured sixth place in the high jump at 7-6.
State 1B meet
Shorewood Christian of West Seattle placed as a team on the boys and girls side at the state 1B meet, which also took place at Eastern Washington University in Cheney.
The boys scored seven for 26th place and the girls scored three points for 32nd place.
Parker Boyd took third place in the 800-meter run with his time of 2:04.95.
Matt Munson was eighth in the 3,200 in a time of 11:28.47.
Riley Scocio placed seventh in the girls discus at 85-10 and teammate Natalie Billharz was eighth in the 1,600 in 6:24.13.

Golf
State tournament
Ally Warnke of Seattle Luheran High School highlighted the West Seattle area finishes in the state golf tournaments, taking 12th place in Class 1B/2B girls action on Tacoma's Oakbrook course.
Warnke was actually tied for ninth place after a first day round of 104 on Wednesday, then she shot a 108 Thursday to wind up 12th with her two-day total of 212.
Also competing on the Oakbrook course was Jordan King of Shorewood Christian in the boys 1B/2B tournament.
King shot a round of 99 on Wednesday to miss the cut of 90 to reach the second championship round of 18 holes.
Two West Seattle High School golfers also missed out on the second day of championship play in the Class 3A boys tournament played on the Tri-Mountain course located in the town of Ridgefield in Southwest Washington.
Zach Gibson shot a 93 to miss the cut of 90, and Bailey Fuentes finished one stroke behind him with a first day round of 94.
