After eight years at the Service Board, Ashley is ready to pursue new opportunities as the Service Board seeks new leadership for the next decade.

Ashley Miller, Executive Director of the Service Board (tSB) since 2008, has announced that she will step down this fall. After months of thoughtful insight and intentional planning by the Board and Staff, the Service Board is excited to seek a new leader for their unique programming model.

In her letter to the tSB community Ashley shares, “In my 8 years at tSB, I have received incredible mentorship, learned hard and soft skills and have developed deep relationships. Together, we have conquered mountains – literally and figuratively - and have had a tremendous amount of fun. Today we are stronger than ever, and it is because of our community.” Ashley’s future plans include traveling and seeking new and exciting roles to continue her passion for her community.

the Service Board was founded in 1995 to create a safe place where youth could learn to snowboard and develop positive community relationships. Over the last 19 years, tSB has grown its mission to mentor teens to conquer personal and cultural challenges through public service and outdoor adventure. Utilizing a unique mentoring program that combines social justice, service learning, and courage building snow/skate boarding lessons, tSB creates youth leaders with a belief in their ability to change their communities.

During Ashley’s time as the Executive Director, tSB has become a leader in the youth development community participating in Youth Development Executives of King County, The Road Map project, and the Youth Quality Program Initiative, as well as receiving the Colleen Willoughby Youth Civic Engagement Award. tSB has increased staff and funding and is currently in an exciting state of growth. “tSB is on a strong path, with passionate and talented staff, board members and supporters. In my time at tSB, programs have become stronger and deeper and our community has grown. It is now time for new leadership to lead the organization into its third decade.” says Ashley.

During this time of transition it is imperative to the Search Committee that the communities tSB serves have an opportunity to participate in seeking the next tSB Executive Director. Ashley and the Search Committee are offering personal coffee hours, a community forum and BBQ, as well as online survey to gather input on the qualities and expectations for the new Executive Director.
After receiving community input the Board will start the selection process on July 11th with a hope to extend an offer in mid November.
