PacWest falls in regional final

VANCOUVER--Pac West was edged out, 5-4, by host East County Little League of Washougal on Sunday evening to end its stay at the Junior League Western Regional all-star baseball tournament.
The Burien-based team of 13-14 year olds finished the round robin portion of the tournament with a 1-3 record, leaving them out of ensuing championship play.
Pac West came into the 12-team tournament as the Washington state champions.
It opened the tournament played at Kindsfather Field in Vancouver with a 12-2 loss to Southern California and a 10-0 loss to Arizona before blanking Nevada on Friday, 2-0.
The No. 1 seeded Arizona team went on to defeat Utah, 5-0, in a semifinal Monday morning and Southern California was to play Northern California in the other semifinal Monday afternoon.
The winner of Tuesday's 4 p.m. championship advances to the Junior League World Series to be played Aug. 9-16 in Taylor, Mich.
Third and fourth place in the Western Regional tournament will be decided at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
