Highline Saves Money and Staff Time by Going Green

Burien, WA– Highline is going green by launching a paperless flyer distribution system that not only saves money and staff time, but ensures families receive important information directly in their email inboxes.
Schools distribute flyers about school menus, club activities, after-school enrichment programs, and community events to students on a weekly basis. In the past, staff have had to spend time at the end of the school day distributing paper flyers to students to carry home in their backpacks.
Now families are able to view flyers online. They can subscribe to get email alerts when new flyers are posted.
“This green initiative will save reams of paper and reduce the workload on teachers, office staff, and volunteers,” said Chief Communications Officer Catherine Carbone Rogers. “By going paperless, we are also making sure that this important information goes directly to parents instead of getting lost in the bottom of a backpack.”
Each Highline school has a website where families can see every eFlyer posted. Parents can click on each eFlyer to learn more and sign up for activities immediately. They can also share eFlyers on social media.
The eFlyers are easily accessible through Highline’s new mobile app for iPhones and Android mobile devices.
