KEXP Hood-to-Hood challenge set for tomorrow
Thu, 06/11/2015
Tomorrow (Friday, June 12) is KEXP’s summer one day drive and the tenth annual Hood-to-Hood challenge, where Seattle neighborhoods compete against each other to host a KEXP organized day long music extravaganza in their neighborhood while supporting non-profit, independent radio – Where the Music Matters!
West Seattle won last year’s Hood-to-Hood challenge by a razor thin margin of $100 and they just celebrated their win two weeks ago with a live KEXP broadcast from The Junction, along with a full afternoon of live music from The Mountain Goats, Telekinesis and others, as well as evening DJ sets from KEXP DJs in venues across their neighborhood.
Ballard, Capitol Hill and the University District are also recent past winners. Artists that have played previous KEXP Hood-to-Hood Day celebrations include Sera Cahoone, The Faint, Cloud Cult, The Moondoggies, The Maldives,Damien Jurado, Buffalo Tom, Joan As Police Woman, Shabazz Palaces, and Deep Sea Diver.
The competition is wide open this year. You can donate to KEXP’s summer drive and vote for whatever Seattle neighborhood you choose here: https://www.kexp.org/donate/?s_src=P1506&s_subsrc=BLOG.
