Night Out for Nepal raises funds for earthquake victims
Sat, 10/17/2015
Sara Beth Dye organized a benefit event on Oct. 15 for Nepal's Children Emergency Relief via UNICEF Australia. Nepal's children face an unprecedented emotional toll as they deal with the devastating consequences of earthquakes. Two major earthquakes in April of 2015 killed more than 9000 people and injured more than 23,000. More than 100,000 people were left homeless when entire villages were flattened.
The benefit event was held at Duo’s on Avalon Way SW.
UNICEF has been on the ground since late April, but they still very much need support. The fundraising so far has generated more than $8000 for shelter for children whose homes have been destroyed, clean water for drinking and washing to prevent further spread of waterborne disease such as cholera, healthcare including vaccinations and vitamins, hygiene kits and facilities, educational materials to use while schools are being rebuilt, and psychosocial support for children who have experienced profound stress like the loss of a parent.
This cause is still in need of support. You can donate here
