Seattle Mounted Patrol officer C. McLaughlin and his horse Charlie were on hand at the tenth annual Delridge Day community event Aug. 13. The event featured live music, sack races, community booths of all types and more.
The tenth annual Delridge Day on Aug, 13 got a great turnout of hundreds despite a very hot day and a Seahawks pre-season game. Held at the Delridge Community Center the event is meant to promote community spirit and communication.
In addition to the presence of the Southwest Seattle Police precinct and mounted patrol officers, sack and three legged races this year CrimeStoppers was there with their Camaros, and Skate Like a Girl offered classes at the Delridge Skate Park.
Ju Jitsu classes were back for the second year and overall there were 10 more community organization booths at the festival.
The new Fitness Zone featuring outdoor exercise gear, had its grand opening at the Delridge Community Center. Trust for Public Land installed them in partnership with VieWS. A Fitness Zone will be installed at the Hiawatha Community Center in the Admiral District too.
Eastridge Church returned to distribute more than 400 backpacks plus toys and more to kids who needed them.
